TIFFIN, Ohio – The Mount Union women's soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Heidelberg 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Mount Union (6-8, 2-3) struck first in the 3^rd minute of the match when Kelsey Malenic (Poland/Poland Seminary) scored on a breakaway goal as she chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to put the Purple Raiders up 1-0.

The Raiders scored again in the 68^th minute of the match when Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) rolled a shot past the keeper to extend the Mount Union lead to 2-0.

Heidelberg (7-8, 2-3) got on the board in the 73^rd minute as Danielle Rathfon found the back of the net off of a pass from Kristen Keenan to cut the Mount Union lead down to 2-1.

Mount Union would answer in the 81^st minute as junior Taylor Lanese (Parma/Valley Forge) scored off of a cross from freshman Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron St.Vincent-St.Mary) to give the Raiders a 3-1 lead.  

Mount Union continues OAC play as it hosts Muskingum on Tuesday, October 21 at 7 pm.
