ALLIANCE, Ohio – No. 1 ranked Mount Union won at least a share of its 24th straight and 27th overall Ohio Athletic Conference football title with a 42-0 victory over Baldwin Wallace Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

It is the 102nd straight regular season win and 91st straight home win for the Purple Raiders (9-0, 8-0 OAC) who can win the conference title outright next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at No. 15 ranked John Carroll in the regular season finale.

The Mount Union defense posted its sixth shutout in nine games this season and held Baldwin Wallace (6-3, 6-2 OAC), the OAC's No. 2 ranked offense, to 148 yards and 1-of-12 on third down.  Will Hiteshue (Medina/Medina) and Alex Kocheff (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) each had 11 tackles and Josh Stewart (Pleasantville/Fairfield Union) had 2.5 sacks to lead the unit. 

Mount Union quarterback Taurice Scott (Alliance/Alliance) matched his career-high as he threw five touchdown passes – three to Roman Namdar (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) – as he went 21-of-27 for 252 yards.  Logan Nemeth (McBain, Mich./McBain) ran for 97 yards on 14 carries.

After the Raiders were held scoreless in the first quarter for the first time in 44 games, Mount Union took a 7-0 lead with 3:33 to go in the second quarter when Scott hit Skyler Scott (Carroll/Canal Winchester) on an 18-yard touchdown pass. 

The Raiders tacked on another score right before halftime as Scott threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to  Roman Namdar (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) to lead 14-0 at the break.

After both teams exchanged punts to open the second half, Scott and Namdar hooked up again this time on a six-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 21-0.

Scott tossed his fourth TD pass of the game after scrambling then finding Jordan Hargrove (Akron/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) to make it 28-0.  Scott once again avoided the rush and found Namdar who ran down the sideline for a 44 yard score to push the margin to 35-0.

Bradley Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./South Lake) punched in a rushing touchdown from three yards out with six minutes to play that made it 42-0.
