ALLIANCE, Ohio-- The University of Mount Union women's tennis team defeated Grove City, 8-1, in the home opener of 2015 Monday at the Whitehill Tennis Courts in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders advance to 5-3 overall.
Mount Union swept all but one of the singles matches with MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) defeating Caroline McGuire 4-1 in the number one spot.
Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) and Megan Reichert (Ashtabula/Lakeside) each defeated the Wolverines in the number two and three spot.
The Raiders continued to dominate in doubles action winning all three slots. Jenkins and Reichert won 8-6 in the number one position as Wise and Alix Stein (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) swept Kendra Tetrick and Janine Jones, 8-0, in the number two spot.
Mount Union next travels to Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday, Mar. 18 at 4:00 pm.
