WESTERVILLE, Ohio-- The University of Mount Union women's tennis team defeated the defending Ohio Athletic Conference Champions, the Otterbein Cardinals, in an OAC opener Saturday, 5-4.

The Purple Raiders advance to 7-3, 1-0 in the OAC, on the season as Otterbein falls to 5-4, 0-1 in the OAC.

Mount Union took four of the six singles matches with MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) defeating Sammi Kruger, 6-4 and 6-1, in the number one position.

Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) and Megan Reichert (Ashtabula/Lakeside) defeated Otterbein in the number two and three positions as Alix Stein (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) won the Raiders final single match in the fifth position, 6-3 and 6-4.

In doubles action, Jenkins and Reichert defeated Kruger and Alyx Lynham 9-8. Otterbein took the number two and three positions.

Mount Union returns home to take on Ohio Northern in an OAC match Saturday, Mar. 28 at 1 pm at the Whitehill Tennis Courts in Alliance.
