CLERMONT, Florida—The University of Mount Union split a pair of games losing to Rose-Hulman (Ind.) 7-1 and defeating Webster (Mo.) 3-0 on Friday in Clermont, Florida.

The Purple Raiders advance to 5-5 on the season.

In game one, Rose-Hulman got an early lead scoring four runs in the second inning including a home run and a double.

In the fourth inning Rose-Hulman's Jessica Will hit another double to right field—hitting two for four on the day—driving in the sixth run.

Mount Union attempted a rally in the top of the seventh with two hits and a reach on an error. Junior Andi VanSickle (Loudonville/Loudinville) hit a single to left field sending a runner home.

Rose-Hulman went on to beat the Raiders 7-1.

Against Webster, both teams struggled offensively as neither team scored until the fifth inning with Webster hitting four for 25 and Mount Union just seven for 23.

Mount Union's first run came in the bottom of the fifth as sophomore Brooke Cox (Louisville/Louisville) singled to right center then stole second.

Freshman Shelby VanSickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) earned the RBI driving a single to right center sending Cox home.

The Raiders added two runs in the sixth. Freshman Brittany Bait (Painesville/Riverside) hit a double to left field then scored off a single from sophomore Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville).

Cox again singled—hitting two for three on the day—followed by junior Megan Okuda driving in the Raiders third and final run as Mount Union defeated Webster 3-0.

Earning the win at the mound for the Purple Raiders was junior Erin Simmons (Suffield/Field) striking out four batters and giving up four hits.

Mount Union completes their spring games tomorrow, Saturday Mar. 7, against Roger Williams at 9 am and Rhode Island College at 11 am.
