ERIE, Pa. -- Mount Union's baseball team pounded out 20 hits in an 8-6 non-conference win at Penn State-Behrend Sunday.

The Purple Raiders (18-2) got four hits from Anthony Morino (Strongsville/Strongsville), Scott Sherwood (Mentor/Mentor) and Sean Mohney (Lodi/Cloverleaf) as the 20 hits were the second most in a single game this season.

Mount Union started the scoring in the second inning with two-out RBI hits from Nick Piotrowski (Macedonia/Nordonia) and Morino to lead 2-0.

Behrend (17-8) got a run back in the fourth before the Raiders got a four-run fifth to take the lead to 6-1.

In the fifth inning, the first two Mount Union batters reached base then Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) had a bunt single with a Behrend throwing error plating a run.  Derek Sullivan (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) then executed a squeeze play with runners at the corners brining another run home.  Mitchell Lake (Orwell/Grand Valley) and Morino had RBI singles to finish the inning.

Mount Union got another run in the sixth on a passed ball to extend the lead to 8-1.

Behrend then scored a run in the sixth and put up four in the eighth to tighten the margin to 8-6.

Scott Chase (North Ridgeville/St. Ignatius) then got the final two outs in the eighth to stop the Behrend rally and got through the ninth for his sixth save of the season.

Beau Taylor (Alliance/West Branch) started for Mount Union and went 6.0 innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.

David Boehme took the loss on the mound for Behrend.

Mount Union stays on the road playing a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Allegheny in Meadville, Pa.
