Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Hiram scored four unanswered runs over the final four innings to rally for a 9-7 win at Mount Union Saturday at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
Tyler Simcox (Akron/Ellet) went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Purple Raiders (18-14) who rallied from a 5-1 deficit to take a 7-5 lead after a five-run fifth inning.
With the score tied 1-1 in the first, Hiram (8-24) scored four in the second to take a 5-1 lead.
Mount Union got a run in the fourth as Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) reached on an error to start the frame then came around to score on a Turley ground-out that made it 5-2.
The Raiders then took the lead with a five-run fifth which was capped by a two-out two-RBI single by Simcox.
Hiram came right back and retook the lead with a three-run sixth and added a run in the ninth for the 9-7 win.
Kyle Watson came on to hold Mount Union to two hits over the final 3.2 innings for the win while Darren Krolikowski (Independence/Independence) took loss out of the pen for the Raiders.
Mount Union is scheduled to play an Ohio Athletic Conference series Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wilmington.
