Women's Soccer: Mount Union Shuts Out Kenyon For First Win

GAMBIER, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team got its first win of 2015 as they shut out Kenyon 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Mount Union (1-2) scored the only goal of the game late in the first half after senior Carolyn Balzano (Poland/Poland Seminary) set up freshman Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) for her first career goal.

Kenyon (0-3) outshot the Purple Raiders 29-6 but could not find the back of the net as they dropped their third straight match.

Sophomore goalie Paige Freel (Niles/Niles McKinley) collected eight saves and earned her first career shutout.

Mount Union next travels to Bluffton Wednesday, September 9 at 3 PM.
