Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio—The Mount Union women's soccer team extends its unbeaten streak to three after tying conference opponent Marietta 2-2 in a back and forth match on Wednesday.
Marietta (7-4-3, 1-1-2 OAC) forward McKenzie Dorr scored the first goal of the game in the third minute, giving the Pioneers a 1-0 lead over the Purple Raiders (6-6-1, 2-1-1 OAC).
Mount Union sophomore
Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) tied the game at one in the 25
th minute after receiving a through-ball from senior
Carolyn Balzano (Poland/Poland Seminary) in Marietta's 18-yard box.
Marietta tallied its second point the 37th minute, giving the Pioneers a 2-1 lead that lasted through halftime.
Sophomore
Mallory Wahl (Millersburg/West Holmes) headed the ball into the back of the Marietta goal after receiving a corner kick from Balzano in the 67th minute, tying the game at two for the Raiders.
The remainder of regulation went scoreless, sending the teams into overtime. Neither Mount Union or Marietta were able to notch a point in either overtime period, resulting in a final score of 2-2.
Mount Union hosts Capital in its next conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
