Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Mount Union's baseball team suffered a pair of 2-1 losses to St. John Fisher (N.Y.) Sunday at Chain O'Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Florida.
In the opener, St. John Fisher (3-1) broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the fourth off a home run from Scott Eisenmenger.
The Purple Raiders (0-2) rallied with a run in the seventh off an RBI double from Mitchell Lake (Orwell/Grand Valley) and had the tying run in scoring position when the game ended.
Mount Union's Kyle Toma (Strongsville/Strongsville) pitched a complete game striking out three in the loss.
Stephen Lewis allowed seven hits and went 6.2 innings for the win while Kevin Berge got the final out for the save.
In game two, St. John Fisher took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second and Mount Union tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with a run on an RBI single from Lake.
The game stayed tied until the Cardinals pushed a run across in the sixth as a leadoff walk eventually would score on a pinch hit single from Nate Roethel.
Sam Clarke (Strongsville/Strongsville) started and went five innings for the Raiders giving up two runs on four hits while striking out seven in taking the loss.
Jim Dawson pitched five innings for the win while Berge picked up his second save.
Mount Union is back in action Monday against Saint Mary's (Minn.) at 11:45 a.m. at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida.
