Box Score 2 AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Mount Union freshman Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) pitched a complete game two-hit shutout in his first collegiate start as the Purple Raiders split a pair of games with Alma (Mich.) Tuesday in Florida.
Mary struck out 12 hitters and took a perfect game into the sixth inning before he hit batter then surrendered a single but he came right back and allowed just one more hit as the Purple Raiders won 5-0.
Senior catcher James Weber (Auburn, Ind./Garrett) provided more than enough offense as he drove in four runs on a pair of doubles as Mount Union had 10 hits in the win.
The Raiders fell behind 2-0 in game two then tied the game in the fourth on a two-run single from freshman Nick Satovich (New Kensington, Pa./Plum).
Alma came back and the tied the game in the bottom of the fourth then went up 4-2 with a run in the sixth.
Mount Union rallied in the seventh with an RBI single from Billy Goodall (Canfield/South Range) and had the runners in scoring position when the game ended.
Mike Martin (Independence/Independence) struck out five and allowed just one earned run in the loss.
