ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team belted out a season-high 22 hits in a 16-9 non-conference win over Thiel (Pa.) Wednesday at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders snapped a three-game skid with the win and now stand at 9-10 on the season while Thiel falls to 11-4 overall.

Mount Union scored runs in seven different innings as 11 different Raiders registered a hit.

Freshman Nick Satovich (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) drove in four runs on three hits, senior James Weber (Auburn, Ind./Garrett) had three hits and two RBI, junior Kyle Spellman had three hits while junior Jimmy Scott (Holland/Toledo St. Joseph) drove in three runs on two hits for Mount Union.

Mount Union scored two runs in the first and a run in the second for an early 3-0 lead but Thiel tied the game with three runs in the top of the third.

The Raiders came back with four runs in the bottom of the third with big hit coming from Scott -- a three-run triple that went off the wall in left-center field to lead 7-3.

The Tomcats came back with two runs in the fifth while Mount Union got one of those back to make the score 8-5.

Each team scored a run in sixth and the Raiders tacked on two more in the seventh off a two-out, two-run single from Satovich which made the score 11-6.

Thiel got it to 11-8 with two runs in the eighth but Mount Union sent 10 hitters to the plate in the bottom half of the inning and plated five runs to lead 16-8.

Thiel scored one more in the ninth for the 16-9 final.

Freshman Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) picked up the win to improve to 3-1 on the season for Mount Union while Alex Yoder took the loss for Thiel.

The Raiders return to Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday at 1 p.m. playing at Heidelberg in Tiffin.
