CLERMONT, Fla. – Mount Union's softball team closed out its Florida trip with a pair of wins Florida defeating Finlandia (Mich.) 7-2 and shutting out Roger Williams (R.I.) 6-0.

Against Finlandia, Jenna Liles (Sterling/Norwayne) went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs while in the circle, Erin Simmons (Suffied/Field) threw a complete game only allowing five hits with eight strikeouts.

Mount Union scored in each of the first four innings to build a 7-0 lead. 

Finlandia avoided the shutout with two runs in the sixth.

Against Roger Williams, Brittany Baitt (Painsville/Riverside) started off the game with a single-run home run as it was the first of her four hits on the day.

Mount Union's Andi Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) hit a two-run homerun, her fourth of the week, in the same inning to make the score 3-0.

Liles scored on a wild pitch in the top of the second inning to get the score up to 4-0.

Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville) started off the top of the fifth with another home run, her second this week. The Raiders scored one more run in the top of the sixth and finish the game, 6-0.

In the circle, Allie Scali (Parma/Parma), threw a complete game only allowing three hits and having five strikeouts.

Mount Union next travels to Grove City (Pa.) Thursday, March 17 playing at 3:30 pm.
