WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Mount Union's baseball team took a pair of losses 3-0 and 9-8 to No. 22 ranked Wartburg (Iowa) Sunday at Chain O'Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Florida.

The Purple Raiders end the Florida swing at 5-7 overall.

In game one, Mount Union was shut out for the first time this season as the Raiders were held to just five hits in a 3-0 loss.

Wartburg plated two runs in the third and one in the fifth.

Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) took his first loss of the season (2-1) as he scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out five.

Wartburg took advantage of a pair of Mount Union errors and got six runs in the second inning of game two.

The Raiders rallied with five unanswered runs -- one in the fourth on a James Weber (Auburn, Ind./Garrett) single and a four-run sixth with Weber again providing the big hit with a two-run double -- to make it 6-5.

Wartburg got it to 7-5 with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

In the seventh, Weber drove had his fourth hit of the game and drove in his fourth run while Jimmy Scott (Holland/Toledo St. John's) drove in two runs as a pinch hitter to give Mount Union a 8-7 lead. 

In the bottom of the seventh, Wartburg scored a run on a wild pitch then a walk off single from Tyler Willis ended the game with a final score of 9-8.

Mount Union is back in action Wed., Mar. 16 at 3 p.m. at Hiram.
