MARIETTA, Ohio—The Mount Union women's tennis team recorded a shutout over Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday evening at Berent Tennis Center in Marietta.
The Purple Raiders improve to 9-4 and 2-1 in the OAC while Marietta falls to 5-9 and 1-1 in the OAC.
Mount Union got off to a great start in doubles, sweeping the Pioneers at all three positions. Christina Nelson (Aurora/Aurora) and Alix Stein (New Philidelphia/New Philidelphia) won 8-3 at No.2 doubles to contribute to the effort.
In singles, Nelson battle in the first set and kept up momentum in the second set to win 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
The Raiders are back in action on Saturday, April 9th, as they travel to Ohio Northern for an OAC contest. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
