Box Score AUBURDALE, Fla. -- Mount Union's baseball team committed three errors and walked nine batters in a 13-8 loss to DeSales (Pa.) Thursday at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
The Purple Raiders fall to 5-3 while DeSales improves to 3-6 on the season.
The four hitters for DeSales all reached in the first inning by way of two walks and two Mount Union errors and after that the Bulldogs had a 2-0 lead.
Mount Union came back with three runs in the bottom of the first all with two outs as Jimmy Scott (Holland/Toldeo St. John's) had an RBI double and Joey Keleman (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) hit a two-run home run and the Raiders led 3-2.
DeSales then scored 11 unanswered runs with four in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to take a 13-3 lead.
The Raiders attempted a rally two runs in the sixth taking advantage of a DeSales error and a pair of wild pitches then put three more on the board in the seventh on a three-run double from Scott.
DeSales shut out the Raiders in the eighth and ninth innings for the win.
Mount Union plays two more games in Florida -- an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Baldwin Wallace Saturday at 12:45 p.m. at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale.
