Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio – The No. 23 ranked Mount Union baseball team blanked Muskingum in Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader 7-0 and 4-0 Wednesday in New Concord.
The Purple Raiders are now 24-6 overall and in first place in the OAC with a 13-1 record while Muskingum falls to 14-16 overall and 5-7 in the OAC.
Mount Union again got two superb starting pitching performances from Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) and Noah Skladan (Amherst/Steele).
Mary went 8.0 innings and allowed only six hits in game one to move to 8-0 on the season while Skaldan hurled a complete game four-hitter to push his record to 4-1.
In the opener, Billy Goodall (Canfield/South Range) and Kyle Spellman (Ravenna/Ravenna) each had three hits as the Raiders pounded out seven runs on 12 hits.
Spellman drove in a run in the sixth to spark a five-run sixth as Mount Union blew a 2-0 game open.
Conner Koski (Mayfield/Mayfield) also drove in a pair of runs that inning.
Koski, Nick Satovich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) and Jake Smith (Beloit/West Branch) each had a pair of hits to lead the Raiders at the plate in game two.
Mount Union hosts Otterbein in an OAC doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
