Men's Track & Field: #11 Mount Union Wins Three Events on Day One of OAC Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The No. 11 ranked Mount Union men's track and field team won three events and leads the team standings after day one of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships at Muskingum University in New Concord.

The Purple Raiders have 82 points which is 29 points ahead of second place Ohio Northern.

Twenty-four of those points came in the javelin throw as Mount Union swept the top three places.

Senior Jaquill Scott (Hanover Park, N.J./East Hanover) won the event with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark of 200-feet, 7.25-inches followed by freshman Bryce Biskop (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) in second and senior Adam Gundlah (Strongsville/Strongsville) in third.

All three earned all-conference honors as the top three finishers in an event.

The Raiders other two wins came from a pair of freshman as Matt Keim (Bolivar/Tusky Valley) won the pole vault matching his season-best mark of 15-feet, 7.25-inches and Preston Myers (Alliance/Marlington) in the 10,000 meters (31:16.29).

Mount Union also had an all-conference performance from junior Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md./High Point) in the long jump.

The Raiders set themselves up for a strong Saturday in the preliminaries of the running events.

Junior Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) had a season-best and NCAA provisional time of 48.23 to take the top spot in the 400 meters as the Raiders claimed the first four places in the event with freshmen AJ Digby (Tontogany/Otsego) and James Roth (Massillon/Massillon Perry) and sophomore Clark Etzler (Elida/Elida) in second through fourth.

Neff also grabbed the top place in the 200 meters, sophomore Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) is top qualifier in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles while senior Andrew Shrewsbury (Woodville/Woodmore) and sophomore Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) are 1-2 in the 100 meters.
