ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's tennis team shut out Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Marietta 9-0 Wednesday afternoon at Mount Union's Whitehill Tennis Courts.
The Purple Raiders improve to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the OAC, while Marietta falls to 0-13 and 0-2 in conference play.
Senior Alix Stein (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) defeated Marietta's Erin Warvell 6-0 and 6-1 in third position singles to earn a point for Mount Union. She and sophomore Gretchen Groves (Louisville/Louisville) swept Warvell and Carey Becker in first position doubles 8-0.
Mount Union next travels to Berea, Ohio on Friday, April 7 to play a make-up match against conference opponent Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 p.m.
