HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Mount Union women's tennis team lost 6-3 against Roanoke (Va.) (4-1) Thursday morning at Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
The Purple Raiders secured their points in a doubles victory with Gretchen Groves (Louisville/Louisville) and Kayla Johnston (Ashtabula/Lakeside) with a very close score of 9-8, and then the two of them also had wins in singles.
Sierra Beighey (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) and Gabrielle Wegener (Avon/Avon) came close to winning their doubles competition, only losing 8-6.
Now 5-2, Mount Union will finish their trip in Hilton Head against Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
