HOUSTON, Texas -- Mount Union's women's golf team finished in 20th at the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships Thursday at Bay Oaks Country Club.
The Purple Raiders were six strokes better than round two as they carded their best round of the tournament Thursday with a 343 which gave them a 54-hole total of 1049 placing them 27 strokes behind Central College.
Williams College holds the lead heading to the final day with a 915 (309-306-300) and will battle 14 other teams for the national title on Friday.
Sophomore Emma Jeffries (Wooster) had the Raiders best round Thursday as she fired an 81 and a three-day total of 253 (91-81-81) with her two teammates, junior Rachel Markle (Solon) scoring a three-round score of 259 (86-84-89) and sophomore Brianna Potts (Apple Creek / Waynedale) tallying a total score of 266 (92-90-84).
Rounding out the scorecard for Mount Union was junior Morgan Stubbendieck (Akron / Hoban) who carded a 271 (88-94-89) while fellow classmate Erica Mawhorr (Zanesville / West Muskingum) finished 14 strokes behind Stubbendieck with a three-day total of 285 (97-96-92).
