Women's Soccer: Second Half Surge Sends Raiders to Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa.— Two second half goals led the Mount Union women soccer team to a 3-2 win at Chatham (Pa.) Wednesday night.

Chatham (2-3-1) scored first in the 25th minute but junior Brit McCauley (Ontario) found an equalizer in the 29th minute off a pass from junior Keeley Malone (Chagrin Falls) to tie the game for Mount Union (3-2-1).

Chatham found another goal right before the half ended in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Senior Julia Krause (Mantua / Crestwood) found her senior counterpart Lauren Beech (Hanoverton / United Local) for a goal two minutes into the second half to tie the game up for the Purple Raiders.

Freshman Madison Pepper (Uniontown / Lake) got her first career goal and game-winner in the 72nd minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Skyelar Mantz (Lodi / Cloverleaf) finished the night with eight saves for Mount Union.

The Raiders outshot Chatham 20-19 with McCauley leading the team with six shots.

Mount Union next plays Tuesday, September 24th at 7 p.m. at Hiram.
