Mount Union Track and Field Hit NCAA Provisionals at the Armory

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Mount Union's track and field team came away with some national qualifying provisional on Friday afternoon at the Armory in New York City.

The 4x400-meter relay with the team of two seniors James Roth (Massillon / Massillon Perry) and AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego) along with two freshman Jared Storm (Barberton) and Matthew McBride (Conneaut) ran a NCAA Division III leading time of 3:14.84 which was less than one and a half seconds from the school record as well.

The men kept it going with a senior pair of men in Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek / Garaway) and Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway)ran the second and third fastest times in Division III this year in the 60-meter hurdles finishing first and second in the meet with times of 8.05 and 8.06 seconds.

The women's 4x400-meter relay consisting of senior Sarah Mason (Alliance / Marlington), junior Cortni Arp (Copley), sophomore Olivia Powers (Norwalk St. Paul) and freshman Micah Donley (Carrolton)  ran an NCAA provisional time of 3:55.81 finishing second in the race

A group of 400-meter runners for the men competed with the Purple Raiders top three runners finishing second through fourth. Storm led Mount Union with a 49.13, Roth finished in 49.29 and McBride came in fourth with a 49.53.

The women brought a 400-meter group as well with Donley finishing second with a 59.02 and Arp finishing close behind in third with a time of 59.09.

Mason competed in the 800 as well running a time of 2:16.53 placing third.

Mount Union competes next at the Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Berea, Ohio.
