ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team won their first Ohio Athletic Conference game against Muskingum 4-0 on Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (8-3-1, 1-3-0 OAC) struck first in the 29
th minute when freshman
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Steele) scored off an assist from junior
Brett Kayser (Cleveland / Lakewood St. Edward). Then, in the 40
th minute the Raiders added to their lead when senior
Rylan Wikle (Olmsted Falls) found junior
Gavin Velazquez (Amherst / Steele).
The Raiders quickly added to their lead after the half when Wikle scored off an assist from sophomore
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) in the 50
th minute. Then, the Raiders capped off the 4-0 victory with a goal by junior
Zach Minor (Uniontown / Lake), with senior
Ryland Black (Bowling Green) picking up the assist.
Junior goalkeeper
Tyler Venti (Hudson) had two saves on the night and recorded his fourth shutout of the season.
The Raiders out shot the Muskies (3-10-0, 0-4-0 OAC) 19-5 on the night.
The Raiders will be back in action Saturday, October 16 at 7 p.m. against Capital at Mount Union Stadium.
