DELAWARE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's basketball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan 64-59 in the Championship game in the Ohio Wesleyan Bishop Classic Thursday night at Branch Rickey Arena.
 
The Purple Raiders (4-5, 1-2 OAC) were led by a trio of juniors in Kelsie Glass (Green) scoring all 18 of her points in the second half,  Emma Cannon (Dalton) scoring 16 and Madison Hensley (Blacklick / Gahanna Lincoln) scoring 15.
 
Ohio Wesleyan (9-3) was led by Cierra Joiner scoring 20 points with nine rebounds.
 
Ohio Wesleyan got the first basket of the game but a 9-4 run by the Raiders pushed the lead out to 9-6 with 6:06 remaining in the first quarter. Ohio Wesleyan finished the quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 10-9 lead.
 
Mount Union was held to just 12 points in the second quarter while Ohio Wesleyan extended its lead scoring 22 to take a 32-21 lead into halftime.
 
Ohio Wesleyan pushed the lead out to 16 in the third quarter but a layup by Glass and a Cannon three-pointer ignited a 12-5 run for Mount Union to get within nine with 2 minutes remaining in the third quarter. Mount Union trailed 49-42 after three quarters of play.
 
In the fourth quarter the Raiders got within two with 4:23 left to play on two free throws made from Hensley. But a layup from Ohio Wesleyan pushed the lead back to five and Mount Union was never able to get closer than three points the rest of the way.

Glass was named to the All-Tournament team averaging 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2 steals in the two games played.
 
Mount Union returns to Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday, January 5th at 7:00 p.m. traveling to Berea, Ohio to take on Baldwin Wallace.
