Women's Track and Field: No. 17 Mount Union Takes Down Two Top 10 Teams In OAC Elite Meet

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The No. 17 ranked Mount Union women's track and field team took down a field of three top 25 teams thanks to five first place finishes Sunday afternoon in the Ohio Athletic Conference Elite Meet.

Mount Union took down No. 3 John Carroll and No. 9 Baldwin Wallace with a score of 241 for the Purple Raiders, 150 for John Carroll and 41 for Baldwin Wallace.

Junior Bri Aveni (Geneva) won the pole vault with a NCAA Division III lead jump of 11-feet 5.75-inches.

Junior Lily Bogunovich (Alliance / Marlington) and sophomore Micah Donley (Carrolton) placed first and second in the 400 dash with times of 1:00.79 and 1:01.29.

The 500 dash ran the same way as the 400 dash as the Purple Raiders took first and second with senior Hailey Miller (Louisville) and sophomore Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) ran 1:21.36 and 1:22.56.

Sophomore Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W.Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic) grabbed first in the 200 dash with a time of 26.24.

All three women relays took home first place. In the 4x200 freshmen Naomi Pokrzywa (Ashland), Lauren Roncone (North Canton / Hoover) along with junior Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul), and senior Courtni Arp (Copley) ran a 1:45.79 to take first.

The team consisting of Miller, Donley senior Calista Waters (Beloit / West Branch) and sophomore Taylor Cupp (Geneva) ran a 4:17.34 for first place in the 4x400.

The women's distance medley relay with the team of freshmen Adriana Russell (Mansfield / Madison), Aubyn Boyce (Alliance/ Marlington) and sophomores Brittany Bober (Twinsburg) and Julia Henderson (Twinsburg) finished first with a time of 13:40.58.

Mount Union hosts next week on Saturday Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.
