ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's baseball team rallied for an 8-7 win in the opener but dropped the nightcap 10-5 to Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday at Rafeld-Rogers Field.

Otterbein scored on a past ball in the seventh and pushed the lead to 5-3 and Mount Union got a run back in the eighth on the Livolsi homer. The Cardinals appeared to add a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth to lead 7-4. In the bottom of the ninth, after a double play to start the inning, Zach Mazza (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic) drew a walk and after a past ball, came home on an RBI double from Nate Duliba (Berea / Berea-Midpark) to make it 7-5. Eric Schilling (Pataskala / Watkins Memorial) drew a walk, was lifted for pinch runner RJ Dean (Cuyahoga Heights) and Livolsi singled to load the bases for Weaver's heroics.

Colin Skufka (Wooster) pitched the final 2.2 innings for Mount Union to pick up his second win of the season out of the pen.

Luke Barber drove in two runs on two hits and Nick Meyer took the loss on the mound for Otterbein.

In the nightcap, Mount Union got two runs in the first inning on a Weaver two-run single, but Otterbein scored eight unanswered with three in the second, one in the third and four in the fifth to take a commanding 8-2 lead.

The Raiders tried to rally again with a three run sixth as Dean drove in two and Duilba drove in another and Mount Union got it back to 8-5, but Otterbein put the game away with two more in the ninth.

Otterbein got four hits each from Zak Repar and Brayden Carter while Jackson Wilson got the win pitching for the Cardinals.

Carson Davis took his first of the season on the mound for Mount Union.

The split leaves Mount Union 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference while Otterbein is 4-2 and 1-1 in the conference.
