Women's Track and Field: Purple Raiders Finish Second at OAC; Stocker Gets OAC Record

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's track and field team finished second overall at the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday at Otterbein University.

The Purple Raiders won five of the 19 events contested and scored 194.50 points which was 21.5 behind first place John Carroll (216).

Senior Sabrina Stocker (Madison) broke a seven-year-old OAC record and Mount Union school record in the 60-meter hurdles running an 8.83 in the finals to take first place.

The women's 400-meter Dash crew took home the top four spots and then sixth and seventh as well. Leading them with the win was sophomore Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W.Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic) with a time of 59.83. Senior Cortni Arp (Copley) and sophomore Micah Donley (Carrollton) picked up All-OAC honors with second and third.

Junior Michaelina Terranova (North Jackson / Jackson-Milton) ran back to back races finishing with All-OAC honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a third place and running to fourth in the 400 meters.

Junior Bri Aveni (Geneva) picked up the win in pole vault with a jump of 11-feet 8.5-inches while her teammate junior Emily Phillips (Chardon) grabbed All-OAC honors with second place right behind her.

Two relays finished first with the 4x200 meter relay crew consisting of senior Hailey Miller (Louisville), juniors Lily Bogunovich (Alliance / Marlington), Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul)  and Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) with a time of 1:46.48.

Miller along with Powers teamed up with Donley and senior Calista Waters (Beloit / West Branch) to win the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:09.14.

Mount Union had strong depth with nine all-conference performances (top three performance). Gibbins tied for third in the high jump, Miller finished second in the 500-meter while Powers grabbed third behind her, Wayt scored third in the 200-meters, senior Brit McCauley (Ontario) finished second in the 1,000-meter and mile races and freshman Jaliyah Mixon (East Palestine) in the shot put.
