Women's Track and Field: Gibbins Breaks School Record; Set NCAA Division III Nation Lead

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's women Track and Field athlete junior Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) set a school record in the heptathlon and posting a NCAA Division III top mark with 4,660 points and finishing first at the John Homon Multi-Event Sunday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.

The previous record was held by Veronica Clutter in 2016 with a score of 4,465.

Gibbins began the two-day event with the 100-meter hurdles running it in 15.42 seconds. She then went over the high jump bar in a new personal record of 5-feet 6.5-inches good for second in the nation in the high jump alone. Gibbins threw the shot put 35-feet 5.75-inches while running a 26.03 for the 200-meter Dash to end day one with 3,007 points.

Gibbins started day two off jumping 17-feet 2-inches in the long jump. She followed it up with a throw of 91-feet 6-inches in the Javelin. In the last event of the day Gibbins got the school record running a 2:38.27 in the 800 good for her 4,660 points on the day.

Also competing for the Raiders was sophomore Keirsten Daugherty (Heath) she scored a total of 2,394 points on the day good for 19th currently in the nation.

On the men's side sophomore Aaron Blevins (Windham) competed in the decathlon and finished second overall scoring 4,934 points good for 12th overall in NCAA Division III.
