MARIETTA, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 6-3 win at Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Saturday in Marietta, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders took two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Mount Union's wins came from Mackenzie Cavalier (Green) and Emily Messina (Sharon, Pa.) at No. 1 and Emma Thornton (Canfield / Youngstown Ursuline) and Sydney Scotford (Poland / Poland Seminary) at No. 2.

Mount Union then won four of the six singles matches to get the win being led by Cavalier with a 6-1, 6-0 win and Thornton with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3.

It also marked the first win for Keith Kohmann as Mount Union head coach.

The Raiders are back in action hosting John Carroll at the Whitehill Courts on campus with doubles matches starting at 1 p.m.
