WESTERVILLE, Ohio - No. 6 seed Mount Union lost 5-0 at No. 3 seed Otterbein in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Tuesday in Westerville.

The closest singles match of the day came from junior Emily Messina (Sharon, Pa.) in the No. 2 spot who came up just short in a hard-fought first set dropping it 7-6, and fell in the second by a score of 6-1.

In doubles action, the freshman duo Emma Thornton (Canfield / Youngstown Ursuline) and Sydney Scotford (Poland / Poland Seminary) battled in the No. 2 position coming up just short by a score of 8-6.

Otterbein (6-2) advances to Friday's semifinals to play No. 2 seed Ohio Northern at the Linder Tennis Center in Mason.

The Purple Raiders complete their 2021 season with a 2-7 overall record and 2-5 in the OAC.
