ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's basketball team fell to Otterbein 59-48 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.

Katie McCrary led Otterbein (10-4, 4-3 OAC) with 14 points.

The Purple Raiders (4-8, 1-5 OAC) got 10 points from junior
Emma Cannon (Dalton) and eight points from senior
Isi Palamone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional).

Mount Union and Otterbein traded baskets early on with Cannon hitting a three-pointer with 7:18 left to bring the score to 6-5. Otterbein finished the quarter on a 15-5 run.

The Raiders defense held Otterbein to just 13 points in the second quarter as the Raiders only scored 9 points.

Mount Union connected on a couple three-pointers to open the third quarter closing the lead down to 34-24 but, Otterbein used a 10-4 to take a 16-point lead. The Raiders finished on a 7-0 run over the final 1:24, including a buzzer beating three from Palamone.

The Raiders got within seven with 8:18 left to play on a jumper from sophomore
Maddy Miles (Brunswick Hills / Padua Franciscan) but, an Otterbein 6-0 run ended Mount Union's hopes of a comeback as the lead stayed above eight points the final five minutes.

The Raiders travel to New Concord next Wednesday, January 19 at 7 p.m. to take on Muskingum in OAC play.
