NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Mount Union women's basketball team held Muskingum to just 29.5% from the field to pick up a 66-48 victory in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday night at Performance Court.
The Purple Raiders (5-8, 2-5 OAC) were led by senior
Isi Palamone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) scoring 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Mount Union also got double digit scoring nights from junior
Emma Cannon (Dalton) and sophomore
Maddy Miles (Brunswick Hills / Padua Franciscan) who scored 10 each.
Muskingum (7-7, 2-5 OAC) was led by Tanner Wirth scoring 12 points.
Muskingum took a 4-2 lead early on, but a 13-1 run started and ended by a Palamone layup got Mount Union out to a 15-5 lead with 1:51 remaining in the first quarter.
Muskingum got within seven with to start the second quarter, but once again a 7-0 run from the Raiders pushed the lead out to 26-12.
Mount Union took a 30-19 lead into the halftime as Muskingum used a 7-4 run to end the quarter.
The Raiders used a 22-13 third quarter to extend the lead to a 20-point lead. Muskingum got within 17 once as Mount Union held them to 16 points in the final quarter.
Mount Union remains on the road on Saturday January 22 at 2:00 p.m. to take on Heidelberg in Tiffin, Ohio.
