Football: No. 2 Mount Union Remains Undefeated with Win at Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 nationally ranked Mount Union football team won, 49-14, at Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe Capital on Saturday.

Mount Union (6-0, 5-0 OAC) led 35-0 at halftime.

Raider senior quarterback Braxton Plunk (Plant City, Fla./Plant City) went 21 of 31 for 269 yards and four touchdowns on the day, and now has an OAC-best 22 passing touchdowns on the season. Three of Plunk's touchdowns were to senior wide receiver Wayne Ruby Jr. (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan) who finished with seven catches for 166 yards and three scores. Ruby has at least two touchdowns and 100-plus receiving yards in every game this season. He also has an impressive league-best 16 receiving touchdowns on the year (marking a career-high).

Senior DeAndre Parker (Crystal River, Fla./Crystal River) notched his third-straight 100-yard rushing game with 114 with three rushing touchdowns (tying a career-high).

Also adding a touchdown for the Raiders was senior wide receiver Edwin Reed (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Dr. Krop).

Mount's defense showed once again why they are one of the best in the nation as they had a season-best nine sacks on the day, led by sophomore linebacker Rossy Moore (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic) with a career-high three. Junior Jordan Stancovich (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) pocketed his first career interception.

The Raiders outgained the Comets, 405-169, in total yards. Capital (0-6, 0-5 OAC) scored its first points with a touchdown late in the third quarter.

Mount is back in action next Saturday, Oct. 22 at home vs. Wilmington with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
