ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team defeated Muskingum 2-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday night.
The Purple Raiders (9-2-4, 4-1-1 OAC) struck first when junior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) netted a goal off a penalty kick in the 3
rd minute.
Mount Union would then add to their lead in the 52
nd minute when senior
Xavier Pinaya (Monclova / Anthony Wayne) scored off an assist from senior
Omar Najjar (Akron / Revere) to take a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lucas Fields (West Chester / Lakota East) recorded four saves in the shutout victory.
Mount Union outshot the Muskies (2-11-0, 1-5-0 OAC) 27-6, including 12-4 in shots on goal.
The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to Wilmington on Saturday, October 22 to take on the Quakers at 7 p.m.
