ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union Women's Volleyball team fell in a five-sets (25-21, 25-21, 14-15, 14-25 and 15-12) to Otterbein to finished the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season Saturday afternoon.
Mount Union (19-7, 5-4 OAC) honored its five seniors, Natalie Zucco (North Royalton), Isabella Sprunger (North Royalton), Mollie Thomas (Canton / Massillon Perry), Katie May (Brecksville / Independence) and Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton), before the game.
The Purple Raiders were led by sophomore Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) who had 12 kills. Graduate student Maria Ellesin (Alliance / Marlington) and Sprunger both finished with nine kills.
Thomas and May finished with 22 and 18 assists while sophomores Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) and Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) finished with five and four solo blocks.
Kasaris had a team-high 22 digs while Thomas tied her career-high with 19. Bartell and sophomore Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) had 18 and 15 digs.
Otterbein (21-5, 8-1 OAC) was led by Kennedy Hoffman who had 19 kills, Carlie Craycraft finished with 54 assists and Amanda Troyer had a game-high 33 digs.
Mount Union will now go into the OAC tournament as the five seed heading to Marietta who is the four seed on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start time.
