Dunkle's Double Double Leads Raiders Past Pitt-Greensburg

 
ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union's women's basketball team defeat Pitt-Greensburg 93-50 Wednesday night at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex. 
 
The Purple Raiders (3-1) were led by freshman Mckayla Dunkle (Cadiz / Harrison Central) who finished with a double double with career-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds. 
 
Senior Madison Hensley (Blacklick / Gahanna Lincoln) finished with a season-high 16 points while sophomore Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) and Ali Hudik (Mentor / Lake Catholic) finished with 10 points each.
 
Senior Gretchen Koken (Harmony, Pa. / Seneca Valley) finished with 11 rebounds for the Raiders and freshman Bailey Shutsa (Wadsworth / Norton) finished with a game-high eight steals.
 
Pitt-Greensburg (0-2) was led by Kayla Koehler with 17 points. 
 
Early in the first quarter the lead changed four different times but a 14-0 run that included seven points from Nash pushed the Mount Union lead out to 19-6. Mount Union kept the lead and pushing it out to 26-13 as Shutsa finished the quarter with a jumper before the buzzer.
 
Greensburg got within 11 four different times in the second quarter but a 12-2 run which included 10 points from Hensley pushed the lead out to 45-24.
 
The Raiders used its depth in the second half as it outscored Greensburg 48-20 over the final two quarters.
 
Mount Union used its defense to create offense as it forced 24 turnovers which in favor scored 29 points off of it. The Raiders also used their bench outscoring Greensburg 31-11 in bench points while also dominating the post play with 50 points in the paint compared to just 14 from Greensburg.
 
Mount Union will head on the road for its next game heading to River Forrest, Ill. To take on Concordia-Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. Central/ 4p.m. eastern.
