ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union football team had seven players named on the 2022 D3football.com All-America Team.
Senior quarterback
Braxton Plunk (Plant City, Fla./Plant City), senior wide receiver
Wayne Ruby Jr. (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan), and senior guard
Carson Barrett (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) earned First Team Offense. Sophomore linebacker
Rossy Moore (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic) was named Second Team Defense. Senior defensive tackle
Duke Hill (Memphis, Tenn./Germantown) and defensive back
Derrick Bradley (Parrish, Fla. / Palmetto) earned a spot on the Third Team Defense, while senior running back
DeAndre Parker (Crystal River, Fla./Crystal River) was selected on the Fourth Team Offense.
Plunk, earning his third All-America honor this season, led NCAA Division III in in passing yards (4,551), while tied for first in points responsible for (342). Plunk was just four passing yards away from tying a school season record. His 50 passing touchdowns ranked second in the nation.
Ruby, also earning his third All-America nod this season, led Division III counterparts in both receiving yards (1,785) and receiving touchdowns (30) - both school records. Ruby was one touchdown away from tying a Division III record.
Barrett was one of the anchors of the offensive line of one of the top offenses in the country. This marked Barrett's first All-America honors.
Moore, earning his second All-America selection, led the Raiders in sacks with 10.5, while second in tackles for a loss (19.5).
Hill totaled 27 tackles, 4.0 tackles for a loss, and 3.0 sacks. Hill continued to jam up the line of scrimmage and take on blocks creating opportunities for his teammates. Bradley finished with 39 tackles a sack and an interception. Bradley had a season-high eight tackles in the championship game against North Central. Parker ran for a team- and career-high 1,296 yards (the first 1,000-yard season of his career), to go along with a career- and Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) best 18 rushing touchdowns. The All-America honor was the first for both Bradley, Hill, and Parker.
The Purple Raiders advanced to the Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III Championship game, for the 22
nd time – a record in Division III.
