BEXLEY, Ohio – The Mount Union women's basketball team defeated Capital 57-45 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.

Emma Cannon (Dalton) scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Purple Raiders (7-12, 5-9 OAC), while senior
Isi Palamone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) tied her career-high in rebounds with 15 and scored nine points.
Capital (5-17, 2-12 OAC) was led by Laney Murphy scoring 17 points.
Mount Union began the game on a 6-0 run within the first two minutes. Capital got within one with 3:52 left to go in the quarter, but the Raiders finished the quarter on a 3-0 run to take a 14-10 lead.
Mount Union got its largest lead of the first half 17-10 on a Cannon three-pointer to begin the quarter. Capital responded with an 8-0 run to take the lead with 6:00 remaining in the first half. Both teams traded baskets over the final 4:31 with the game being tied at 26 at the half.
Neither team got a lead larger than five in the third quarter with Mount Union taking a 39-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
Capital scored the first basket to close within two. Cannon then went on a personal 9-0 run to push the Raiders lead out to 47-37. Mount Union held Capital to just 10 points in the final quarter.
Mount Union heads back home to take on Muskingum on Wednesday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m in the MAAC
