WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's basketball team was defeated by Otterbein in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders (9-13, 6-10 OAC) were led by junior
Emma Cannon (Dalton) scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Junior
Madison Hensley (Blacklick / Gahanna Lincoln) finished in double-digits for Mount Union with 12 points while sophomore
Maddy Miles (Brunswick Hills / Pauda Franciscan) grabbed nine rebounds as well.

Kathleen DeCarlo led Otterbein (18-6, 12-5 OAC) with 15 points.

Both teams began the game on separate 4-0 runs. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter with Otterbein taking a 12-11 lead after one period.

Cannon came out in the second quarter connecting on a three-pointer and a jumper to give Mount Union a 16-15 lead. Otterbein hits two jumpers to take the lead, but once again two layups from Cannon gave the Raiders a 20-19 lead. Otterbein finished the quarter on a 10-6 run to take a 31-29 lead into the half.

Otterbein held Mount Union to just six points in the third quarter opening a 48-35 lead with a quarter to play.

The Raiders got within 10 once on a Cannon layup with 6:56 remaining but Otterbein stretched the score out to the final score of 63-47.

The Raiders will hit the road for a quarterfinal game Tuesday with their opponent and bracket to be announced later tonight by the OAC.
