ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's lacrosse team opened the 2022 season with an 18-2 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.
Eden Kesler (Chargin Falls / Kenston) had a game-high eight points on six goals and two assists, Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) had four goals and two assists and Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn.) had a goal and three assists as 10 different Purple Raiders cracked the scoring column.
West Virginia Wesleyan (0-1) avoided the shutout with two second half scores from Emma Adcock.
Mount Union scored 10 goals in the first quarter to start the running clock. The Raiders led 14-0 at the break and 16-1 after three quarters.
The Raiders are next on the road playing against Washington & Jefferson, Wednesday, March 2 at 6 p.m. in Washington, Pa.
