ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union Men's Volleyball team swept Geneva (Pa.) 25-20, 25-16 and 25-23 Thursday night at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders (11-11, 6-1 MVCL) were led by senior
Mark Bruns (Columbus / Upper Arlington) with 10 kills on the night
Juniors
Luke Trzeciak (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) and
Andrew Cross (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Louis University High) finished with nine and seven kills respectively.
Senior
Jeremy Leyden (Cuyahoga Falls / Hoban) and freshman
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) had 27 and 11 assists respectively.
Trzeciak led Mount Union in digs with 12 while Leyden and senior
Steven Grenier (Hawthorn Woods, Ill. / Lake Zurich) had 11 and eight digs.
Geneva (17-14) was led by Peter Barbato with 15 digs and 14 kills.
The Raiders finished with 45 kills on the night with 16 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .279 while Geneva had 34 kills with 19 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .132.
Mount Union finished the night with 45 digs and 10 blocks to Geneva's 39 and five.
The Raiders finish up conference play and the regular season on the road on Sunday, April 3 at 1 p.m. in Angola, Ind. against Trine University.
