MEADVILLE, Pa. – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team scored five second half goals to comeback and beat Allegheny 7-5 Wednesday night at Frank B. Fuhrer Field
Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) had three goals, Eli Ciotti (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly) had two goals while Grant Dunmire (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) and Logan Addonizio (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) each scored one for the scoring for the Purple Raiders (3-1).
Aidan D'Amato had two goals to lead Allegheny (1-2).
The Gators led 1-0 after the first quarter and 3-2 at the break. Kungle had both Raiders first half goals in the second quarter, including one that was a man-up goal.
Mount Union scored three of the four goals in the third quarter – one by Ciotti tied it up then Addonizio and Dumire scored in a five-minute span to give the Raiders their first lead, 5-4.
Allegheny tied the game 1:21 into the fourth quarter but Ciotti scored the go-ahead goal with 7:44 to play. Kungle added some insurance just 41 seconds later for the 7-5 final.
Kyle Reihner (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Prep) had 13 saves in goal for Mount Union while Mike Doyle (New Port Richey, Fla. / JW Mitchell) was 7-for-15 in the face-off circle.
Mount Union is scheduled to host Washington & Jefferson, Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
