UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio– Mount Union's men's lacrosse team dropped the regular season Ohio Athletic Conference finale to John Carroll 19-5 Wednesday night at Don Shula Stadium.
The Purple Raiders (8-7, 4-5 OAC) had a goal each from Eli Ciott (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly),
Logan Gebhart (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillan),
Alek Kungle (Canton / Lake),
Connor O'Neil (Medina) and the goalkeeper
Kyle Reihner (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton Prep).
John Carroll (14-2, 8-1 OAC) was led by Matt Berdysiak who scored seven goals.
John Carroll opened with the first seven goals until O'Neil and Ciotti each scored before the first quarter ended. The second quarter saw both teams just score one goal with Gebhart scoring for the Raiders to trail 8-3 into halftime.
The third quarter saw John Carroll score the only three goals in the period holding Mount Union scoreless.
Kungle began the fourth quarter with a goal for the Raiders. John Carroll responded with a 7-0 run to close out the game but before the final period goalkeeper
Kyle Reihner made a 60-yard shot over the defense scoring for Mount Union.
Mount Union will be the No. 6-seed in the OAC Tournament starting Saturday, April 30
th as they travel to No. 3-seed Ohio Northern at 1 p.m. in Ada, Ohio.
