ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team tied Franciscan 3-3 in a non-conference matchup on Friday evening.
The Barons (5-0-2) struck first Jonathan Schriner found the back of the net in the 13
th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Purple Raiders (3-1-3) would answer with a goal of their own when senior
Xavier Pinaya (Monclova / Anthony Wayne) found junior
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) for his first goal of the season in the 22
nd minute. Just over a minute later Hancock would give Mount Union the lead this time scoring off assists by Pinaya and senior
Rylan Wikle (Olmsted Falls).
The Raiders would extend their lead in the 53
rd minute when junior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) found the back of the net to take a 3-1 lead.
Franciscan would come back to cut the lead down to a goal in the 64
th minute off a Nick Miller penalty kick. The Barons would then tie the game in the 89
th minute when Benjamin James found the back of the net, ending the game in a 3-3 draw.
The Raiders hit the road next as they travel to Bethany, W.Va. to take on Bethany on Saturday, September 24 at 3:30 p.m.
