BETHANY, W.Va. – Mount Union's men's soccer team defeated Bethany 3-0 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders got on the score board first when senior
Rylan Wikle (Olmsted Falls) found senior
Josh Palmer (Kent / Kent Roosevelt) for his first goal of the season in the 19
th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Mount Union would add to their lead in the 59
th minute when junior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) netted a goal to take a 2-0 lead. The Raiders scored again in the 62
nd minute to extend their lead to 3-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lucas Fields (West Chester / Lakota East) recorded six saves in his first career start and shutout.
The Raiders return home next when they host Wooster on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m. at Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
