ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team won their final non-conference game 1-0 against Wooster on Saturday night.
The Purple Raiders (5-1-3) scored with just one second remaining in the first half when junior
Emilio Spetic (Chardon / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) scored his first career goal of a double assist by seniors
Omar Najjar (Akron / Revere) and
Xavier Pinaya (Monclova / Anthony Wayne) to take a 1-0 lead.
That would prove to be the game winning goal as neither the Raiders nor the Fighting Scots (4-4-2) were able to find the back of the net in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lucas Fields (West Chester / Lakota East) recorded his second consecutive shutout in the win, and the Mount Union defense has now held opponents scoreless for 180 consecutive minutes.
The Raiders return to action on Saturday, October 1 at 1 p.m. when they host Ohio Northern to open Ohio Athletic Conference play at Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
