ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Mount Union women's volleyball team swept both SUNY Geneseo and RIT on Friday night at Clark Gymnasium.
In the first game of the day Mount Union (7-3) took down SUNY Geneseo (2-6) in straight sets 25-23, 25-16 and 25-14.
Leading the Purple Raiders was
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) who had eight kills as
Isabella Sprunger (North Royalton) and
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) both had seven kills.
Senior setters
Mollie Thomas (Massillon / Massillon Perry) and
Katie May (Brecksville / Independence) had 16 and 15 assists respectively.
Senior libero
Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) had a game-high 14 digs with Thomas picking up 10 and sophomore
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) finished with nine digs.
In the second game Mount Union swept host RIT (2-6) 25-19, 15-19 and 25-14.
The Raiders were led by Bartell with 10 kills as senior
Maria Ellesin (Alliance / Marlington) and Meyer both had seven kills.
On again senior setters May and Thomas led Mount Union in assists with 15 and 11.
Kasaris and Bartell both finished with 11 digs in the game.
Mount Union concludes its trip to Rochester, N.Y. with games against St. John Fisher at noon and SUNY Cortland at 2 p.m.
