COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12 nationally ranked Mount Union men's soccer team defeated Capital 3-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half the Comets (7-5-1, 1-3-1 OAC) would break the tie in the 49
th minute when Derrick Harris found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.
The Purple Raiders (12-1-1, 3-1-1 OAC)) would come back to tie the game in the 60
th minute when senior
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) was able to score to tie the game at a goal apiece. Mount Union would then claim their first lead of the game in the 81
st minute when senior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) found the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead. Senior
Emilio Spetic (Chardon / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) would find freshman
Tyler Harsch (Aliquippa, Pa. / Central Valley) in the 90
th minute to extend the Raider lead to 3-1.
The Raiders are on the road again next when they travel to New Concord to take on Muskingum on Wednesday, October 18 at 7 p.m.
