ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The No. 8 Mount Union men's soccer team defeated John Carroll 3-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday evening.
After a scoreless first half, the Purple Raiders (15-1-1, 5-1-1 OAC) broke the tie in the 51st minute when senior
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) scored on a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Union would add to their lead in the 70th minute when junior
Kabiona Ramadhani (Cleveland / Lincoln West) found sophomore
Braedon Kennedy (Strongsville). Then, in the 73rd minute senior
Zak Peterjohn (North Royalton) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore
Reese Utter (Dover) to make the lead 3-0.
The Blue Streaks (11-4-1, 5-3-0 OAC) would repond when Patrick Koenig found the back of the net with less than two minutes in the game, but it wouldn't be enough as Mount Union would go on to win 3-1.
The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to Westerville, Ohio to take on Otterbein on Saturday, October 28 at 2 p.m.
